What is calcined lime?
Calcined lime, also known as quicklime or calcium oxide (CaO), is one of the most important minerals used in various industries. It is produced through the calcination process of limestone; in which limestone is heated in industrial furnaces at temperatures of about 900 to 1200 degrees Celsius. In this process, the carbon dioxide contained in calcium carbonate is released, and a highly pure and highly reactive material is obtained. Calcined lime is known as one of the key raw materials in many industrial processes due to its strong alkaline properties and rapid reaction with water.
Applications of calcined lime in industries
Calcined lime plays a very important role in various industries and is used as a basic material in many production processes. In the steel and metallurgical industries, this material is used to remove impurities such as sulfur and phosphorus from metals. It is also widely used in the cement, glass, mining and metal processing industries. Other important uses of calcined lime include water and wastewater treatment, neutralization of acids in the chemical industry and improvement of soil quality in the agricultural sector. Due to these characteristics, calcined lime is considered one of the most widely used and strategic minerals in many industries.
